13 weeks

For the most part, yoga has protected my lower back, which is prone to giving out on me, from injury for the last seven years. The "morning" sickness kept me from my practice (which had already been waning, anyway) for most of the summer.

Eight weeks off the mat and one bad night of sleep later, I woke up with back pain the likes of which I can't recall ever having experienced. A trip to the chiropractor on Wednesday seems to have helped, so I decked out for my first prenatal class at Peachtree Yoga this morning.

It was awesome. It felt so good to be doing yoga in a safe environment where the instructor knew what would be good ... and not so good ... for my rapidly changing body and baby. The studio felt like a sanctuary, much more conducive to focus and relaxation than the multi-purpose room at the Y.

After class I chowed down on a salmon quesadilla at the cafe at my local health food store (terrible web site, great food). It was the most food I've eaten at one sitting in a while, as well as the most flavor. And it rocked.

I briefly hit the stores afterwards to half-heartedly look for a dress or two for K's wedding and rehearsal dinner next weekend. I had to wait till the last minute to look since I had no idea what my belly would be like at this point. I didn't find anything. Those 70s blousy dresses are all the rage right now and they would be a logical option for me.... but they just don't look right on my figure. I am hoping not to wear one till my baby bump is bigger than my butt bump.

Came home afterwards to meet our new cat sitter. Then tried to log into work only to find that the database I need is down.

I haven't had this full of a day since we got our happy news. I have ten thousand things to do before I leave for Chicago on Monday. I think I need to prepare by taking a nap now ....

So if there was a baby announcement on the blog, I must have missed it - but congrat's again! It was great to chat with you earlier. Thanks for dropping me a gmail ping!

You're going to be a great mom, I'm sure. Having a baby is a mind-blowing experience, and some of the most fun I've ever had in my life.
